Queensland set a COVID vaccination record on Saturday as the state, still lagging behind other Australian jurisdictions, edged towards 60 per cent of first doses.
A total of 31,004 Queenslanders rolled up their sleeves on Saturday to receive a vaccination on what the state government had billed as a “Pfizer weekend” acceleration of the vaccine rollout.
That was about 13,000 more vaccinations than the previous Saturday.
But it did not all go smoothly, with Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk acknowledging that some people had been turned away, with long queues at some vaccination hubs.
